Valerie J. (Bornhorst) Gardner, OD

Dr. Valerie grew up in Minster, and has always loved her home town communities! Her father, Mark Bornhorst grew up in New Bremen, while her mother Sue Bornhorst (Schmitmeyer) grew up in Minster. She attended undergraduate studies at Ohio University and attended Optometry training at The Ohio State University. It was at OSU she met Dr. Dustin. While he finished his fellowship training at OSU, Dr. Valerie jumped right into private practice in the Columbus area. She has extensive experience managing all forms of refractive needs, and especially eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and dry eye among other conditions. She eventually felt the calling to return to her hometown to provide care to the community she grew up loving and is excited to be back home!

Dr. Valerie lives in Minster with Dr. Dustin and their 3 daughters.  They are active in their community, and members of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church.  In her spare time, Dr. Valerie likes to take walks with her kids and get together with family.
